Ždiar is an ethnographicallyimportant, typical village which consists of numerous settlementsbellow the Belianske Tatry. It was founded in the 17th century, whenthe "Gorals" (highlanders) settled here. The village is adorned withoriginal wooden houses with closed yards and typical coloredornamentation. Also for The village enjoyment is surviving folklore andcrafts (textures and wood products), and the inhabitants are known tostill wear the local folk costumes on special occasions.
